WHAT EQUIPMENT QUALIFIES FOR A REBATE?

The following equipment qualifies: Furnace or Boiler, Hot Water Heater, Instantaneous Hot Water Heater, Range, Dryer, Grill, Pool Heater and Outdoor Gas Lamps.


WHO QUALIFIES FOR THE CONVERSION PROGRAM?

Current PGW residential and small commercial customers who convert existing non-natural gas appliances to natural gas. The customer must be current on their PGW bill.


WHO DOESN’T QUALIFY FOR THE REBATE?

A customer doesn’t qualify for a rebate if any of the below apply:

  • Property is larger than a duplex
  • Customer is on a payment agreement (such as CRP) or a bill assistance program for their PGW gas bill
  • Not a current PGW customer
  • PGW account is past due 60 days or more


DOES IT MATTER WHAT I CONVERT FROM?

No - your current equipment can be oil, electric or anything else. The most important thing is the conversion to natural gas.


IS THE PROGRAM ONLY FOR RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMERS?

Small commercial customers who have a residential sized business and residential sized equipment are also eligible as long as the appliances meet the below requirements:

  • Heaters under 150 mbtu
  • Ranges under 80 mbtu
  • Water heater under 40 mbtu
  • Dryer under 30 mbtu

  • Heaters under 150 mbtu
  • Ranges under 80 mbtu

HOW DO I APPLY?

To apply, go to www.PGW4U.com and start the application. If you would prefer to submit your application and paperwork through the mail, you can print an application or email res.com@pgworks.com to request a physical application.


WHAT PAPERWORK DO I NEED TO SUBMIT?

Customer’s must submit a completed application, a receipt for the completed installation of gas equipment, and a copy of the signed contract by the customer and the installation contractor.


DO I NEED TO SUBMIT A SEPARATE APPLICATION FOR EACH APPLIANCE?

Yes – a separate application and paperwork need to be submitted for each conversion.


IS THERE A LIMIT ON THE NUMBER OF APPLIANCES I CONVERT?

No – we encourage customers to utilize natural gas for as many appliances as possible. It is important to note, that once you start converting more and more equipment, you will need to speak to a PGW representative to make sure your gas piping can handle the increased gas load.


HOW MUCH WILL I RECEIVE FOR EACH CONVERTED APPLIANCE?

Furnace or Boiler - $1,500 Dryer - $150
Hot Water Heater - $600 Grill - $50
Instantaneous Hot Water Heater - $750 Outdoor Gas Lamps - $50
Range - $150 Pool Heater - $400

HOW WILL I RECEIVE THE MONEY?

The money will go on as a credit to the PGW account provided by the customer.


HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR THE CREDIT TO BE REFLECTED ON MY BILL?

Once the application is received and approved, the credit will appear on the customer’s gas account within 6 to 8 weeks.


WILL I BE NOTIFIED IF MY APPLICATION IS REJECTED?

Yes – a PGW representative will contact you by email regarding your application.


IF MY APPLICATION IS REJECTED BECAUSE I AM NOT CURRENT ON MY PGW BILL, CAN I REAPPLY ONCE IT IS PAID?

Yes – a customer can reapply once their PGW bill is current and up to date.


HOW CAN I CHECK THE STATUS OF MY REBATE?

I AM A LANDLORD. CAN I RECEIVE THE CREDIT TO MY PGW ACCOUNT IF THE CONVERSION IS DONE AT ONE OF MY PROPERTIES?

If you are converting equipment at one of your rental properties within Philadelphia, just note the correct account number on the application so we know which account to apply it to. If the landlord is also a PGW customer, their gas account must be current and up to date.


I APPLIED EARLIER THIS YEAR FOR MY HEATER CONVERSION AND RECEIVED THE CREDIT FOR THE OLD AMOUNT. CAN I REAPPLY AND GET THE NEW AMOUNT?

No – any applications submitted before June 1, 2024, received the previous conversion credit amount. Any applications submitted after this date will receive the new credit amounts.
